There are number of Festivals celebrated in Bode. One among them is Bisket jatra which is celebrated annually .In this festival the newar community within the bode celebrate the festival by roaming the different kinds of goddess around the bode.The statue of Goddess are kept in wooden made structure called Khata which are then carried by the group of peoples.Of course the main attraction of this festival is tongue piercing ceremony during the festive time which is quite popular all around the world.

The Bisket jatra is started from the 31st of chaitra with the gathering of people of bode around the mahalaxmi temple in morning to celebrate the lingo thadyaune jatra a wooden pole of saloo tree is straighten vertically by pulling the ropes and supporting with kainchi ( x-shaped mechanism made of bamboo ) in a pit near the mahalaxmi temple.People celebrate this occasion very interestingly as this is the kind of informal announcement of starting of Biske Jatra of Bode.The lindgo is then worshiped and a pair of patar (which are indicated as one pair of male and female goddess of snake called nag ) are hung within the lingo.
Meanwhile in the evening people enjoy with the feast in everybody's home.The Goddess of Kumar is celebrated from the goddess home to a place called lachi.
The next day of the jatra is in first of baisakh (nepali month).A ceremony called Pachthayou is celebrated in the morning at the vicinity of the mahalaxmi temple.It is basically ceremony of Traditional Music with traditional instruments pwonga and khiin. During which Traditional songs of Goddess are sung by the Pascha Guthi. The songs are difficult to understand even the newars also because it is in written in very traditional newari language.Different other cultural guthies also perform their traditional vajan during that time.At the mean time the ladies or women who are interested starts keep rounding the mahalaxmi temple for a whole day.At afternoon the people around the bode are redy for another ceremony in which the mans and women wearing traditional newari dress (haku ptasi) roamed around the bode area and several other places of thimi areas.Even the children also take participation in this ceremony with great interest.The participants assemble in a line and ready for the march.Let us have a look

By the end of the day second of bisket jatra all the statues of goddes are brought our in the respective places of bode.They are decorated with flowers and many other accessories for a good look.
One of the main attraction of this festival is the night celebration Kumari Khat which is not much popular in outside world but the people of bode has great meaning for this celebration.This ceremony is taken place in lachi tole of bode.The people from every single home take participate in this ceremony with chilag (traditional lightening system) in their hand.The kumari khat is carried out by the groups of people from the locality.It is belived that by watching this ceremony they will be unaffected by different kind of illness throughout the year. Hundreds of people take participation in this ceremony.The small village is rocked with the sound of dhime and Khin baja. Hundreds of people follows the track of Kumari khat by praying and singing songs of the goddess of kumari.ultimately the kahat is taken out in the Kumari temple located at the down site of bode.
Then after ,all other Khat of goddess are carried over and visited in several places of bode with dhime and khin baja. This ends up the second day celebration of Bisket jatra
The third day of Bisket Jatra has major importance of itself because tongue piercing ceremony is done in this day.Thousands of people from out side bode gather in the vicinity of Ganesh Temple at pancho Dhoka of bode.The khat of different goddess are kept in a row-wise in that place and visitor and prayer get busy to worship the goddesses.The people of bode from each home gather to worship the goddesses from early in the morning.The traffic is much so its take a lot of time to complete this action.
People from outside as well as inside bode starts gathering at pancho dhoka until early afternoon because the Jatra is about to start at 1 to 2 pm around.The traditional Dhime baja hit the place with high volume along with people starts dancing by playing with Sindur (color) to each other.At the mean time,the tongue piercing ceremony is about to start.A man who is elligble for this action with other helper arrive at the place with Nayo khin (Traditional instruments) for the ceremony.A high rise plat form is built for this ceremony.When all are sets for ready a leader (pahalman) The leader is set to pierce the tongue of the person with a iron made needle.All peoples shouts with joys and the festival is again started with joys.For detail about tongue piercing ceremony just click the link bellow.
After the tongue piercing ceremony,the person is set to roam around the different parts of bode.while on other hand the people are on the festive moods starts to carryout the khats in their shoulder.With the dhime the khat of goddess are taken down to the Kumari temple to make round of it and then it is brought up again inside the bode.
On the other hand,the tongue piercing man with other helper finish to visit the different places of bode and wait for the goddess of khat to arrive at the vicinity of the mahalaxmi temple.when the khat of goddess Pancho ganesh is brought to the mahalaxmi temple the pahalman or a leader take out the needle from the tongue of a piercing man.After that all the khat of goddess are taken into every place of the bode for the celebration until it finish.
Finally after finishing the visit,the khat are brought into the lachi tole for finishing the festival.This ceremony is called lasakus in newari language.The khat of every single goddess are taken into their respective places by serially.This way the Festival is end up.
